Once the EV charger side is covered, the next step is looking at the bigger picture.
If you are also installing solar and a battery, we can design the charger as part of one integrated energy system rather than treating everything as separate pieces. GoodWe says the HCA G2 integrates with the PV inverter and battery, allowing charging either from available solar, from battery support, or with a grid top-up when needed.
This is where the setup becomes more powerful.
Instead of just installing a charger on the wall, you are creating a system where:
- solar can generate power during the day
- the home can use that power first
- excess solar can then be directed into EV charging
- the battery can support charging in the right mode
- the grid can still top up charging when required
GoodWe’s documentation says the HCA G2 supports Fast, PV Priority and PV + Battery charging modes. In PV Priority mode, household loads take priority and the remaining PV power charges the EV. In PV + Battery mode, PV and battery energy are used for EV charging, with loads again taking priority first.
