Cheaper Home Batteries Program

  • The discount is usually assigned and applied at the point of sale rather than claimed later by the homeowner.

NSW · eligible batteries

NSW VPP incentive

NSW supports eligible households that connect a battery to a Virtual Power Plant under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. The earlier standalone NSW battery installation discount has ended.

  • Offers, eligible equipment and participation terms vary by provider.

Can I combine solar and battery incentives?+

Often, different incentives can apply to the solar panels, battery and VPP participation, but each program has its own eligibility rules. We assess the proposed system and show each applicable deduction separately.

Is the $15,000 NSW offer a rebate?+

No. The Home Energy Saver offer is an interest-free loan for eligible households and must be repaid under the program terms.

Is the federal home battery rebate still available?+

Yes. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program is still available for eligible systems. The former standalone NSW installation incentive ended in September 2026; a separate NSW incentive remains for eligible Virtual Power Plant participation.
