Solar & batteries in Merewether
Merewether is a coastal suburb with a mix of grand older homes and heavily renovated cottages, and both bring their own quirks. Salt air is the constant: mounting hardware, fixings and cable management have to be specified for it or they will not see out the warranty. We have a finished job here you can look through.
What matters in Merewether
- Salt exposure is the defining factor. We use coastal-rated rails and fixings and route cabling so it is not sitting in the weather.
- Ocean-facing roofs often have the best pitch but the worst wind loading, so fixing spacing matters more here than inland.
- Many Merewether homes have been extended two or three times, which means split roof faces and a switchboard that has been added to rather than replaced.
- Evening loads are high in these households — the battery conversation is usually the productive one.
- Ten minutes from the workshop at Hamilton North.
