Solar array on a Hunter rooftop inspected by Newy Solar Co

Maintenance & inspections — Newcastle & the Hunter

Keep the system earning its keep

Health checks, fault finding, repairs and certification for solar systems across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter — whoever installed them.

Most underperforming systems are fixable

Solar is low maintenance, not no maintenance. Panels drop output as they soil, isolators degrade in coastal air, connections work loose, and a single failing string can quietly cost you hundreds a year without ever throwing an error you'd notice.

We inspect the array, test the strings, check the switchboard and isolators, review your monitoring history and tell you exactly what's underperforming and what it's costing. Then you decide what's worth doing.

We service systems we didn't install. If yours was put in by a company that's since disappeared — common enough around Newcastle — we can take it on and get it documented properly.

Questions

Straight answers

How often should solar be serviced?

A check every couple of years suits most Newcastle homes, and sooner if output has dropped, you're near the coast, or the system has never been inspected.

Will you service a system you didn't install?

Yes. A lot of our service work is on systems installed by companies that no longer exist.

How do I know my system is underperforming?

Compare your current generation to the same season last year. A steady decline, or one string producing noticeably less than the others, is worth investigating.

Do I need an inspection before adding a battery?

We always assess the existing system first. Adding storage to a system with tired isolators or a marginal switchboard just builds a problem in.
