Solar & batteries in Shortland
Shortland sits between the wetlands and the university, and the housing is largely post-war brick on decent blocks. The roofs are simple and generous, which is the best combination there is for solar — clean runs, few obstructions, and room for a system that actually covers the household.
What matters in Shortland
- Straightforward hip and gable roofs with good north faces, so arrays go on efficiently and cheaply.
- Block sizes allow full-size systems rather than the compromises the inner suburbs force.
- Plenty of rentals and owner-occupiers upgrading old 3kW and 5kW systems — we replace inverters and add storage without starting over.
- Ausgrid network, standard export limits, all paperwork handled here.
- Fifteen minutes from Hamilton North.
