Can you add a battery to my existing solar?+
Often, yes. We assess your current inverter, switchboard, solar production and energy use before recommending the right retrofit approach.
How do you size a solar and battery system?+
We look at your bills, usage pattern, roof, existing electrical setup and what you want the system to achieve. The design is tailored rather than pulled from a standard package.
Who carries out the installation?+
Newy Solar Co uses its own in-house electricians, keeping responsibility for the design, installation and handover with one local team.

A local team, not a sales network
Newy Solar Co works out of a workshop in Hamilton North, and every solar installation in Newcastle and the Hunter is carried out by our own licensed electricians. We don't subcontract and we don't hand jobs to a roaming crew. The people who come out to quote your place are the same people on your roof, and the same people who come back if anything needs attention afterwards.
That matters more in Newcastle than people assume. Much of the housing stock here is old, switchboards vary enormously between neighbouring streets, and salt air off the harbour and the lake is hard on cheap hardware. Local experience is what stops those things becoming problems eighteen months after handover.
Systems designed around your bill
We size systems from your actual usage, not a package list. Feed-in tariffs in NSW have fallen far enough that exporting surplus power is no longer where the value sits — the money is in using your own generation across the expensive evening hours. That's a battery conversation, and it depends entirely on when your household actually draws power.
So we start with a recent bill and a proper site visit: roof aspect and condition, shading, and the switchboard opened and assessed. Sometimes the honest answer is a smaller battery than expected, or solar first and storage later. We'd rather say that than sell capacity you'll never fill.
Rebates handled for you
Small-scale technology certificates come off the price of new solar, and the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program discounts the battery. NSW peak demand and VPP incentives apply to many systems, and the $15,000 NSW Home Energy Saver loan is available interest-free if you'd rather spread the cost than pay upfront.
We're accredited to administer these, which means they're applied to your quote as a deduction — you see the total to pay after incentives before you commit, and there's nothing for you to claim back later. If a switchboard upgrade is needed to connect a battery, that's inside the quoted figure too, never a variation on install day.
