Mayfield's older housing stock throws up the usual Newcastle challenges — mixed roof aspects, ageing switchboards and shading from neighbouring roofs. This system was designed around all three, with panel placement planned from the drone survey before a single rail went up.

The battery means the household keeps using its own solar long after the sun drops, instead of selling it back for a few cents and buying it back at peak rates.
