Capacity and compatibility

AlphaESS's current M5 page lists a 5 kWh module in 1–6 module configurations, giving 5–30 kWh, and the SMILE-M-BAT-13.9P nominal 13.99 kWh module in 1–2 module configurations, giving 13.99–27.98 kWh. M10 compatibility differs, so the written quote should identify the inverter, battery module and count.
Module count alone does not establish which appliances can run or how long backup lasts. That depends on measured household loads, usable capacity, off-grid continuous and surge power, and the circuits included in backup.
If you may expand later, check the federal program rules at that time. Added capacity is only eligible where the existing system has not previously received the program discount and all current criteria are met.

- Fit: single-phase properties where the selected SMILE inverter and existing or proposed solar are compatible
- Fit: one or two 13.99 kWh modules (13.99 or 27.98 kWh nominal)
- Limitation: backed-up circuits must fit the selected inverter's off-grid continuous and surge ratings
- The written quote should state the precise model, nominal and usable capacity, property phase, backed-up circuits, off-grid continuous and surge output, and separate inverter and battery warranties.
The decision
What it costs, plainly.
The installed price depends on the SMILE inverter variant, module count, switchboard and metering work, backup circuits and cable route. These details are itemised in the written quote.
M5 and M10 are different inverters. The M10-S is published in 8, 9 and 10 kW variants, while the M5 is 5 kW. We match the variant to the proposed solar array or existing system.
Battery capacity alone does not decide which appliances run or for how long in an outage. That comes from measured loads, the inverter's off-grid continuous and surge ratings, and the written list of backed-up circuits.
Federal battery certificates are calculated on eligible usable capacity at the installation date. If you add capacity later, check the program rules current at that time.

01Can I add a second module later?
Newy quotes one or two 13.99 kWh modules. Adding the second later depends on inverter compatibility and the federal program rules current at that time.
02M5 or M10 — which one?
It depends on the solar configuration, simultaneous loads and required backup circuits. The written quote names the exact inverter variant and its continuous and surge output.
03Will it work with my existing solar?
We review the existing inverter, array, switchboard and metering first. Compatibility is set out in the written design.
