Who it suits

  • Households adding their first battery to existing solar
  • Budget-conscious homes that still want the option of a second battery later
  • Anyone sizing to the 14 kWh or 28 kWh rebate tiers

What stands out

14 kWh or 28 kWh

One battery gives you 14 kWh; a second stacked battery takes it to 28 kWh, which is the maximum.

All-in-one design

Inverter and battery in one cabinet — tidier on the wall, faster to install.

Built-in fire suppression

Aerosol fire suppression is built into the unit as standard.

VPP ready

Compatible with mainstream virtual power plant programs if you want to join one.

What it costs

The SMILE M5 is our entry package — the lowest cost way into real battery storage without cutting corners on the install.

Final price depends on capacity, switchboard condition, meter work and how far the run is from your board to the battery location. We quote it all up front, with rebates applied, and nothing is added later.

Common questions

Can I add more capacity later?

Yes — start at 14 kWh and add a second battery later to reach 28 kWh. Two batteries is the maximum on this system.

M5 or M10 — which one?

The M5's 5 kW output suits most average Newcastle homes. The M10 steps up to 10 kW for larger houses, heavier loads like ducted air-con, or bigger solar arrays.

Will it work with my existing solar?

In most cases, yes. We check your current inverter and switchboard first and tell you honestly if anything needs upgrading.
